AMMAN — Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi on Friday stressed the need to uphold the ceasefire in Gaza and ensure full implementation of all provisions of US President Donald Trump’s peace plan.

Speaking at a joint press conference following an expanded panel session hosted by Slovenian Foreign Minister Tanja Fajon, Safadi underscored the urgency of allowing immediate and sufficient humanitarian aid into Gaza, according to a Foreign Ministry statement.

The press conference featured the participation of Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, Bahraini Foreign Minister Abdullatif Al Zayyani, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty, as well as Slovenia's foreign minister.

Safadi emphasised the importance of establishing a “genuine” political horizon to achieve a just peace leading to the establishment of an independent, sovereign Palestinian state on Palestinian national soil, based on the two-state solution and international legitimacy resolutions.

He warned of the catastrophic consequences of illegal Israeli measures in the occupied West Bank, citing continued settlement expansion, land confiscation, the strangling of the Palestinian economy, and ongoing violations against Islamic and Christian holy sites in occupied Jerusalem.

Safadi also commended Slovenia’s position over the past two years in condemning the Israeli aggression on Gaza and in supporting the Palestinian people and their right to freedom and statehood, noting that these stances have reinforced its international standing as a voice for justice, international law, moderation and peace.

Highlighting the deep-rooted Jordanian-Slovenian relations, he underscored the importance of the visit of His Majesty King Abdullah, accompanied by HRH Crown Prince Hussein, to Slovenia last October, which resulted in the signing of a joint declaration to strengthen partnership and advance cooperation in several sectors.

On the sidelines of the visit, Safadi and the participating Arab foreign ministers held talks with Slovenian Prime Minister Robert Golob on regional developments, efforts to promote security and stability, and ways to enhance relations with Slovenia.

Safadi reiterated the keenness of the Kingdom to deepen cooperation with Slovenia and expressed appreciation for its stance on the Palestinian cause and support for efforts to achieve a just peace.

He also held extensive talks with Fajon focusing on bilateral ties and regional developments, including prospects for expanding cooperation based on the outcomes of His Majesty's visit, in the interest of both countries and their peoples.

Safadi praised Slovenia’s consistent support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and its recognition of the State of Palestine in line with the two-state solution.
