Industrial output rises 1.29% in 2025 — DoS

AMMAN — Industrial production in the Kingdom rose by 1.29 per cent in 2025 compared with the previous year, according to the Department of Statistics (DoS) on Thursday, based on data from its monthly Industrial Production Quantity Index covering around 300 industrial establishments.
 
The overall index increased 0.35 per cent year-on-year in December and 0.52 per cent compared with November, with the DoS noting that the base year has been revised to 2018=100, replacing 2010=100, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
 
The index averaged 88.84 points in 2025, up from 87.70 in 2024. In December, the index reached 88.78 points, compared with 88.47 in December 2024 and 88.32 in November 2025.
 
Growth in 2025 was driven mainly by the manufacturing sector, which expanded 1.17 per cent and accounts for 88.7 per cent of the index weight. Output in extractive industries rose 1.16 per cent (5.4 per cent weight), while electricity production increased 2.82 per cent (5.9 per cent weight).
 
December’s performance reflected a sharp 11.64 per cent increase in extractive industries output and a 1.94 per cent rise in electricity production, while manufacturing output declined 0.40 per cent, the DoS said.
 
On a month-on-month basis, electricity production surged 21.0 per cent in December, compared with November, while extractive industries output edged up 0.36 per cent and manufacturing fell 0.70 per cent.
