AMMAN — Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi on Tuesday discussed rising regional tensions with Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein.
During a phone call, the two officials reviewed the repercussions of the escalating crisis in the region and explored prospects for restoring calm through diplomatic efforts, according to a Foreign Ministry statement.
Both ministers warned of the potentially catastrophic consequences of further escalation, stressing the need for coordinated action to safeguard regional security and stability.
Safadi reiterated the Kingdom's condemnation of Iranian attacks targeting its territory and several Arab countries, affirming that the Kingdom will continue to take all necessary measures to protect its citizens, security and sovereignty.
The two sides also underlined the deep-rooted ties between Jordan and Iraq and reaffirmed their commitment to continued coordination to strengthen bilateral relations.
