AMMAN — Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ayman Safadi will participate on Wednesday in the monthly briefing of the United Nations Security Council on the situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian Cause.
Safadi is scheduled to meet with several of his counterparts attending the session, according to Al Mamlaka TV.
The Security Council will address the Palestinian Cause at the ministerial level during the monthly session, which is expected to be chaired by the United Kingdom’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs Secretary, Yvette Cooper, as the UK holds the Council’s presidency for February.
Council members will also hear a briefing from Rosemary DiCarlo, UN Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs, on the latest developments in the occupied Palestinian territories, with particular focus on recent Israeli measures aimed at facilitating settlement expansion in the occupied West Bank.
