AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah on Sunday met with a group of military retirees, on the occasion of Veterans Day.
His Majesty commended military retirees and expressed his pride in them and their service to the nation, according to a Royal Court statement.
During the meeting, held at the Royal Hashemite Court, retired Maj. Gen. Adnan Al Raqqad, director of the Economic and Social Association of Retired Servicemen and Veterans, spoke about the importance of Veterans Day in promoting appreciation for retirees of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF) and security agencies.
Raqqad added that the King’s recent directive to restructure the JAF underscores His Majesty’s continued commitment to strengthening the armed forces, and ensuring they remain at the highest levels of readiness and efficiency to face various challenges.
Praising His Majesty’s support for military retirees, Raqqad affirmed the readiness of his brothers-in-arms to serve the nation, as well as the association’s continued implementation of development projects that support military retirees.
For their part, military retirees at the meeting spoke of their appreciation for the strength of relations between the Hashemite leadership and current and retired members of the armed forces.
The speakers emphasised their commitment to remaining an integral part of the community, stressing their readiness to continue serving their country in their respective roles, with their expertise and established values.
Royal Hashemite Court Chief Yousef Issawi, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Maj. Gen. Yousef Huneiti, General Intelligence Department Director Maj. Gen. Ahmad Husni, and Public Security Directorate Director Maj. Gen. Obaidallah Maaytah attended the meeting.
