AMMAN — The Royal Jordanian Air Force (RJAF) has intercepted and destroyed 35 out of 36 missiles and drones launched towards Jordan over the past week, as spillover from the regional war continued into the Kingdom during its third week.
According to a statement issued on Saturday by the Jordan Armed Forces–Arab Army (JAF) and the Public Security Directorate (PSD), RJAF brought down 14 missiles and 21 drones, while one attack was not intercepted.
Cumulative figures since the outbreak of the war [on February 28] show 240 missiles and drones launched towards the Kingdom, of which222 were intercepted and destroyed, while 18 penetrated defences.
The Military Media Directorate said the JAF continues to carry out its duty to protect the Kingdom, deploying all available capabilities to safeguard citizens and residents.
The PSD said that its civil defence and police units over the past week dealt with a total of 114 cases linked to falling debris and remnants across the country.
One child was injured during the incidents, the directorate said, adding that the condition was stable and the child has since been discharged from hospital after receiving treatment.
Since the start of the war, 414 falling objects have been reported and 24 people injured, all of whom have since been discharged from hospital, the statement said.
Authorities renewed warnings against approaching or handling unidentified objects or debris, citing safety risks, and urged the public to report suspicious items via the emergency number 911, while emphasising the need to rely on verified information and avoid spreading rumours.
