AMMAN — A ministerial delegation began a working visit on Wednesday to Rome, with the participation of Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Zeina Toukan, Minister of Investment Tareq Abu Ghazaleh and Jordan’s Ambassador to Italy Qais Abu Daieh.
The visit comes as part of active economic and diplomatic efforts reflecting the Kingdom’s efforts to expand its investment presence in European Union countries, according to a Ministry of Investment statement.
The visit is also part of ongoing government efforts to position Jordan as a "reliable" investment destination in the region and to promote the Kingdom’s investment opportunities.
The initiative aims to attract "quality" investments that support economic growth and create new avenues for cooperation in priority sectors, in preparation for the upcoming Jordan–European Investment Conference scheduled for April.
The programme included a series of meetings with Italian government officials, economic leaders, and representatives of major companies and commercial institutions.
The delegation also participated in a high-level economic event held at the headquarters of the Italian Trade Agency, attended by Italy’s Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Maria Tripodi, and President of the Italian Trade Agency Matteo Zoppas.
Discussions focused on enhancing economic and investment cooperation between Jordan and Italy.
In addition, the delegation held expanded meetings and discussions with "prominent" companies, economic institutions, and business leaders to boost "direct" engagement between the two countries’ business communities, build strategic partnerships, and attract sustainable, high-value investments that support Jordan’s economic growth.
Toukan said that the visit reflects the “deep” relations between the two countries, affirming Jordan’s commitment to further enhancing ties in support of economic development and expanding investment opportunities in vital sectors.
Abu Ghazaleh outlined "key" measures taken by the government to improve the business environment and streamline administrative procedures, enhancing the investment climate and enabling investors to benefit from incentives that boost Jordan’s competitiveness as an attractive investment destination.
The Minister of Investment conducted meetings and press interviews to several Italian media outlets, highlighting Jordan’s investment opportunities and business advantages.
Abu Daieh underscored the importance of the visit in boosting economic relations between the two countries, noting that it reflects the “strength” of the Jordanian-Italian partnership and both sides’ commitment to expanding investment cooperation, particularly as the April 21 conference approaches.
