AMMAN — Senate President Faisal Fayez on Monday met with Pakistani Ambassador to Jordan Khurram Sarfraz Khan over ties and regional developments, including the ongoing Iran-US-Israel war.
Fayez commended Pakistan’s mediation efforts aimed at ending the conflict and restoring security and stability in the region, warning against any escalation that could widen the scope of the crisis, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
The Senate president highlighted the diplomatic efforts led by His Majesty King Abdullah to prevent further escalation, reiterating that Jordan will not allow itself to become a battleground for any party.
He described Iranian attacks targeting Jordan, Arab Gulf states and other Arab countries as unacceptable, condemned and rejected.
Fayez also underscored the “strength” of Jordanian-Pakistani relations, which date back to the 1960s, describing them as “longstanding and rooted” in mutual respect and cooperation in the interests of both countries.
He stressed the Senate’s commitment to advancing cooperation across economic, investment and trade sectors, including through signing further agreements and expanding the exchange of goods and investments.
For his part, the ambassador praised the His Majesty’s ongoing diplomatic role in addressing regional issues through political means, and expressed pride in the advanced level of Jordanian-Pakistani relations, as well as a shared commitment to further boosting them across various fields.
