Hassan receives Syrian delegation participating in ministerial meetings

AMMAN — Prime Minister Jafar Hassan on Sunday received a Syrian ministerial delegation participating in the second session of the Jordanian-Syrian Higher Coordination Council, headed by Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Al Shibani.
 
During the meeting, Hassan stressed the importance of building on existing cooperation between the two countries and leveraging opportunities across key sectors, including water, transport, energy, ports and railway connectivity, the Jordan news agency, Petra, reported.
 
He also highlighted the role of the Higher Coordination Council in strengthening bilateral coordination, noting its positive impact, particularly in trade, energy and security cooperation.
 
Hassan reaffirmed Jordan’s position, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah, in support of Syria’s unity, sovereignty and stability, as well as efforts to rebuild its institutions.
 
He underscored that Syria’s success is closely tied to Jordan’s and reiterated the Kingdom’s readiness to support the Syrian people across various sectors.
 
Al Shaibani praised Jordan’s supportive stance toward Syria, expressing his country’s commitment to advancing cooperation to serve the mutual interests of both nations.
 
He added that strengthening Jordanian-Syrian relations would pave the way for broader regional cooperation with Gulf countries, Turkey and Europe, citing the strategic importance of both countries’ geographic positions.
 
Also during the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi and his Syrian counterpart reviewed efforts undertaken by the Higher Coordination Council to expand cooperation, as well as the agenda of the council’s second session, which opened in Amman on Sunday.
