AMMAN — Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ayman Safadi on Sunday met with Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al Ahmad Al Sabah to discuss ways to enhance bilateral cooperation across various fields.

During the meeting, both sides underscored the deep-rooted ties between Jordan and Kuwait, reiterating their unity in facing shared regional challenges.

They also reviewed prospects for expanding cooperation in line with mutual interests and the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah and Sheikh Mishal Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah, according to a Foreign Ministry statement.

The two ministers agreed to begin preparations for the sixth session of the Jordanian-Kuwaiti Joint Higher Committee, building on the outcomes of the fifth session held in Kuwait last year. They also agreed to hold a new round of political consultations between the two foreign ministries at the earliest opportunity.

Safadi highlighted the volume of Kuwaiti investments in Jordan, noting that they reflect strong investor confidence in the Kingdom’s economy. He reaffirmed Jordan’s interest in further expanding investment flows and boosting bilateral trade between the two brotherly countries.

He also reiterated Jordan’s condemnation of Iranian attacks targeting Jordan, Kuwait, and other Arab states, reaffirming the Kingdom’s full solidarity with Kuwait in safeguarding its sovereignty, security, and the safety of its citizens and residents.

Sheikh Jarrah affirmed Kuwait’s full solidarity with Jordan and other Arab countries in the face of such attacks.

The two ministers stressed the importance of building on the ceasefire agreement between the United States and Iran to reach a lasting solution that addresses the root causes of tensions, upholds international law, respects state sovereignty and good neighbourliness, and ensures freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, in line with the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea.

They also discussed developments in the occupied Palestinian territories, stressing the need to consolidate stability in Gaza, ensure full implementation of the plan put forward by Donald Trump, and remove obstacles to the entry of sufficient and sustained humanitarian aid into the Strip.

Both sides reiterated the need to halt illegal Israeli measures that undermine the two-state solution and prospects for a just and comprehensive peace, including settlement expansion, land annexation, violations of freedom of worship, and attempts to alter the historic and legal status quo of Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.

The discussions also covered Lebanon, where they stressed the importance of consolidating the ceasefire and supporting the Lebanese government in asserting sovereignty over its territory and ensuring all weapons are under state control.

The two ministers agreed to maintain close coordination and continued consultation to reinforce regional security and stability.
