AMMAN — An unidentified object fell in an open area in Irbid Governorate on Friday evening, with no injuries or damage reported, according to the Public Security Directorate (PSD).
PSD spokesperson Lt. Col. Amer Sartawi said the operations room at the Irbid Police Directorate received a report about the incident, prompting security personnel to immediately head to the site.
Initial inspection indicated that the object was debris from an explosive device, Sartawi said, adding that specialised teams were dispatched to the scene to handle the remains.
The PSD had said earlier on Thursday that emergency responders had been dealing with multiple reports of falling debris across the Kingdom.
Sartawi noted that Civil Defence and police teams inspected around 187 locations where debris or unidentified objects had been reported from last Saturday until Thursday afternoon, adding that no injuries were recorded during that period.
He urged the public to follow instructions issued by security authorities and to immediately report any suspicious objects through the unified emergency number 911.
Sartawi also reiterated warnings against approaching or handling unknown objects due to the potential danger they may pose.
