'Israeli' settlers on Tuesday cut down more than 150 olive trees in various areas of the occupied West Bank and set a Palestinian vehicle ablaze, Palestinian rights groups reported.
The Al-Baydar human rights organization said groups of settlers destroyed and vandalized over 150 olive trees in the Qa’oun Plain near the village of Bardala in the northern Jordan Valley.
In a statement shared on Facebook, the organization quoted local resident Mohammad Mabsalat saying the attack caused significant damage to the ancient trees, which are a primary source of income for his family. He added that such incidents are part of ongoing violations targeting Palestinian farmers during the olive harvest season.
Al-Baydar also reported that settlers set fire to a Palestinian vehicle in the town of Beitin, east of Ramallah, as part of a series of repeated attacks targeting Palestinian property and aiming to destabilize local communities.
According to data from the Palestinian Authority’s Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission, settlers carried out 7,154 attacks on Palestinians and their property in the West Bank during the so-called “years of extermination,” resulting in the deaths of 33 Palestinians and the displacement of 33 Palestinian Bedouin communities.
'Israeli' forces and settlers in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, have killed at least 1,051 Palestinians, injured around 10,300, and arrested more than 20,000, including 1,600 children, since Oct 7th, 2023, according to official Palestinian statistics.
