'Israeli' army launches large-scale military exercise along Lebanon border

The 'Israeli' army announced on Sunday the start of a major military exercise along the country’s northern border with Lebanon, set to continue until next Thursday.

The drill will involve ground, air, and naval operations across towns and coastal areas in the Galilee region.

In a statement, army spokesperson Avichay Adraee said, “Starting today, a large-scale military exercise will take place in the Galilee region from this evening until Thursday, along the border with Lebanon, including towns, the coastal area, and the home front.”

The exercise is designed to train for multi-branch coordination to respond to various scenarios, including the protection of areas and immediate threats on the battlefield, the statement added.

The announcement comes amid ongoing 'Israeli' violations of the ceasefire with Hezbollah, the most recent being the killing of a civilian by an 'Israeli' drone strike on an excavator along the Kafr Dunin–Deir Kifa road in the Tyre district of southern Lebanon.

The army statement warned that the exercise will involve loud explosions, simulated enemy actions, drone flights, aerial and naval maneuvers, and active troop movements.

According to the army, the drill had been pre-planned as part of 'Israel’s' 2025 annual training schedule.

The announcement follows Thursday’s 'Israeli' airstrikes on towns in southern and eastern Lebanon, which reportedly killed one person and injured 11 others.

The military exercises and recent strikes underscore the tense situation along the 'Israel'-Lebanon border, raising concerns about potential escalations with Hezbollah despite the existing ceasefire agreement.
