Parliament approves reply to King’s Speech from Throne

AMMAN — The Senate, during a session, chaired by Senate’s President Faisal Fayez on Monday approved the reply to the Speech from the Throne delivered by His Majesty King Abdullah at the opening of the second ordinary session of the 20th Parliament.
 
Also on Monday, the Lower House, in a closed session chaired by Speaker Mazen Al Qadi, also endorsed its reply to the Speech from the Throne, paving the way for submission to His Majesty, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
 
Lawmakers reviewed the report of the Committee for the Reply to the Speech from the Throne, which finalised the text on 30 October following meetings on 28, 29, and 30 October.
 
The Speech from the Throne highlighted the importance of continuing Jordan’s Economic Modernisation Vision, developing megaprojects, attracting investment, creating job opportunities and improving public services, including education, healthcare, and transportation.
 
His Majesty also reiterated the Kingdom’s steadfast support for Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank, pledged continued relief and medical assistance.
 
He also stressed the Kingdom’s enduring role in safeguarding Jerusalem’s Muslim and Christian holy sites under the Hashemite Custodianship. The King also commended Jordanians for their resilience, generosity, and unity in facing crises, describing these qualities as the foundation of national strength and stability.
 
Both the Senate and the Lower House are scheduled to submit their official replies to His Majesty King Abdullah on Wednesday, signalling Parliament’s commitment to translating the Speech from the Throne into tangible reforms and initiatives for the benefit of the Jordanian people.
