PA refers 95 social media accounts to legal department over impersonation claims

AMMAN — The Jordan Press Association (JPA) on Saturday announced that 95 social media accounts had been referred to its legal department, following a recommendation from the Committee for the Protection of the Profession.
The decision came after it was confirmed that these accounts had impersonated journalists or media professionals, engaging in practices reserved exclusively for licensed press and media institutions, according to a JPA statement.
The council also approved a programme proposed by the Cultural Committee, featuring a series of intellectual forums and poetry evenings in the upcoming period, aimed at strengthening the syndicate’s cultural engagement.
The council also endorsed a financial settlement request from Silwan News website, and approved a support request submitted by colleague Rabia Abu Tarboush, which was subsequently referred to the Membership Committee to complete the required legal procedures.
