SSC to continue disbursing pensions to retirees over 80 years — spokesperson

The Jordan Times

AMMAN — The Social Security Corporation (SSC) will continue to disburse pensions to all retirees over the age of 80, with no plans to halt payments, SSC Spokesperson Shaman Majali said on Wednesday.

He also announced the upcoming launch of a new digital platform for births and deaths, developed by the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, in cooperation with the Ministry of Health and the Civil Status and Passports Department.

The platform aims to streamline and modernise government procedures by digitally linking public, private, and military hospitals to a unified system for entering birth and death data, Majali added.

He noted that the platform is expected to overcome delays and underreporting of death cases, and provide accurate, real-time digital data to relevant entities, particularly the SSC, to ensure faster and more precise processing of transactions for subscribers and their eligible heirs.

In addition to facilitating accurate death reporting, the platform will offer integrated service packages for citizens, such as a "birth package" that includes birth notification, birth certificate issuance, and family book updates, the spokesperson said.

He added that the platform is being piloted in 17 hospitals across the public, private, and military sectors, where plans are underway to expand it to all 120 hospitals in Jordan by the end of October, achieving full digital integration with the Civil Status and Passports Department.

Majali also noted that coordination is ongoing with municipalities to enable the digital registration of burial permits on the platform as soon as they are issued.
