AMMAN — Canadian Ambassador to Jordan Louis-Martin Aumais on Tuesday visited the Specialised Surgery Centre at Al Bashir Hospitals to review progress within the framework of the Multi-Donor Trust Fund (MDTF) for health.
The ambassador was received by Al Bashir Hospitals Director Ali Abdallat, alongside Huda Ababneh, director of the Projects and International Cooperation Department at the Ministry of Health, and Atef Namoura, director of the Specialised Surgery Hospital.
The visit comes as part of follow-ups on the progress of the Refugee Health Fund’s donor group. Canada remains a key supporter of the fund, to ensure the sustainability of health services and enhance their capacity, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
During the visit, Abdallat delivered a comprehensive presentation on the evolution of Al Bashir Hospitals. He highlighted recent qualitative advancements in medical services and infrastructure, aimed at improving patient care and institutional efficiency.
Abdallat also outlined ongoing expansion projects, upgrades to medical equipment, and rigorous quality control measures designed to ensure patient safety, emphasising the hospital’s pivotal role within the national health sector.
The tour included several critical departments at the Specialised Surgery Centre, including the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), the cardiac catheterisation department, the coronary care unit, and operating theatres.
The ambassador expressed deep appreciation for the humanitarian impact of the health fund’s projects, reaffirming his country’s commitment to supporting initiatives that create a positive and sustainable effect on the health sector.
He also emphasised the importance of bolstering the capacity of healthcare institutions to effectively respond to community needs.
