KYIV — Russian attacks have damaged energy facilities in the Kyiv region as well as a key bridge in the Ukrainian capital, its mayor said on Saturday morning.

"As a result of an overnight enemy attack, energy facilities in the Kyiv and Zhytomyr regions were damaged. The situation with the capital's energy supply is extremely difficult," Mayor Vitaly Klitschko wrote on Telegram.

Damage to the facilities has affected the operation of heating and water supply systems in the city, the mayor said.

Klitschko wrote in another Telegram message that the Northern Bridge , one of several bridges connecting the eastern and western parts of Kyiv over the Dnipro River , was "damaged in an enemy attack", with specialists assessing the extent of it.

On Friday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warned of more attacks on the country's energy sector and on civilian infrastructure.

Ukraine faces another difficult winter amid continued Russian attacks on its energy infrastructure despite renewed diplomatic efforts to end the war.

Klitschko said on Saturday morning that five people, including a 14-year-old child, were wounded in the Ukrainian capital during a Russian attack.
