AMMAN — The Delegation of the European Union to Jordan and the College of Europe launched together with the government of Jordan the second edition of the EU-funded programme “Strengthening the Capacity of Jordanian Public Administrations for Enhanced EU–Jordan Relations.”

 

Building on the “successful” first edition in autumn 2025, the programme will continue to enhance the knowledge, skills, and institutional capacities of your Jordanian civil servants and advance the cooperation between the European Union and Jordan, according to an EU embassy statement.

 

A high-level kick-off event in Amman on Tuesday and Wednesday brought together 19 young Jordanian officials from a wide range of Jordanian institutions, alongside key partners and stakeholders.

 

On the agenda were the institutional architecture and decision-making processes of the European Union, with a particular focus on the role of EU institutions and bodies in its external action, as well as EU–MENA strategic relations, including the EU–Jordan Strategic and Comprehensive Partnership.

 

The Amman component of the training concluded with a high-level closing ceremony followed by a networking event gathering participants, representatives of the EU Delegation to Jordan and other key stakeholders, as well as alumni from the programme's first edition that also targeted 19 participants.

 

Among the attendees were EU Ambassador to Jordan Pierre-Christophe Chatzisavas, Ambassador of Belgium to Jordan Gianmarco Rizzo, and Secretary General of the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation Omar Fanek.

 

Chatzisavas, said: “Together with the Jordanian government, the Delegation of the EU in Amman wants to invest in the new generation of civil servants that will continue the EU–Jordan partnership.”

 

“By strengthening their knowledge, skills, and networks within the Jordanian and the European public administrations, we are equipping young Jordanian civil servants with the tools and the ambition to advance shared priorities in line with the Jordan-EU Strategic and Comprehensive Partnership,” he added.

 

The training will continue at the College of Europe in Bruges and through study visits to EU institutions and bodies in Brussels from September 28 to October 7.

 

Participants will deepen their understanding of EU external action and EU–Jordan relations while strengthening practical skills directly applicable to their professional responsibilities, according to the statement.

 

The programme combines academic expertise with practical workshops, simulations, case studies, and interactive exercises covering topics such as EU foreign policy, donor coordination, and policy implementation.

 

The training takes place in the context of a broader programme running until 2027, funded by the European Union, the statement added.
