AMMAN — The Mexican embassy in Jordan has opened the exhibition “Traditional Customs of Mexico” at the Diplomatic Pavilion of the 40th edition of the Jerash International Festival for Culture and Arts.

 

The showcase featured attire from eight Mexican states — Chihuahua, Quintana Roo, Oaxaca, Jalisco, Chiapas, Guerrero, Puebla, and Veracruz — highlighting the country’s cultural diversity and the history, craftsmanship, and traditions preserved by its communities, according to an embassy statement.

 

The opening attracted “great” interest from Jordanian and international visitors, who explored an authentic expression of Mexico’s cultural heritage.

 

Through textiles, embroidery, colours, and distinctive designs, visitors had the opportunity to discover the identity of different regions of Mexico, including indigenous traditions such as those of the Rarámuri people of Chihuahua and the Maya heritage of QuintanaRoo.

 

“Traditional costumes are more than garments; they are living expressions of history, identity, and community. Through this exhibition, we were pleased to bring Mexico closer to the Jordanian public and share the richness of our cultural heritage,” said Ambassador Jacob Prado.

 

Through its participation in the Jerash International Festival, the embassy continues to promote cultural exchange and share Mexico’s heritage with audiences in Jordan.

 

The “Traditional Customs of Mexico” exhibition will be open to visitors from July 23 to 25, from 7:00 to 11:00pm, the statement added.
