AMMAN — Minister of Foreign Affairs Ayman Safadi on Sunday reaffirmed the strength of Jordanian-Syrian relations.

In a post on X, Safadi said that Jordan values its longstanding brotherly relations with Syria and their ongoing development in various areas.

He added that the two countries are working to enhance comprehensive cooperation in a manner that serves their mutual interests and supports efforts to meet common challenges, noting Jordan’s continued support for Syria’s path towards reconstruction.

Also on Sunday, Syria’s Foreign Minister Asaad Al Shibani praised the “advanced” Syrian-Jordanian relations.

He said bilateral relations with Jordan continue to advance positively across all sectors.

In a post on X, Al Shibani said his country aims for the relationship to set a successful example for two neighbouring states, built on mutual respect, cooperation, and strong ties.

He also affirmed that Syria remains committed to deepening fraternal ties with Jordan and will take all necessary steps to preserve the strong and cordial relationship between the two countries.

Earlier on Sunday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has “strongly” condemned the insults directed at Jordan during a recent gathering in Damascus.

In a statement on Sunday, the ministry emphasised the importance of holding those responsible accountable for their actions.

The ministry spokesperson Fouad Majali said that the Jordanian government had received assurances from the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, confirming that Syria rejects any offense against the Kingdom.

He added that the Syrian government also promised to take legal action against the individuals involved, in violation of the law and in a “futile” attempt to harm the deep relations between the two brotherly countries.
