AMMAN — The “Discover Digital Jordan 2026” programme kicked off on Sunday, organised by the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship through its “Jordan Source” programme, with the participation of an international delegation of 15 CEOs, investors, business leaders and technology experts.

 

The delegation includes specialists in technology, outsourcing, artificial intelligence (AI), software, cybersecurity, semiconductors and investment, and represents institutions including the Maryland Technology Development Corporation (TEDCO), Siemens Digital Industries Software MENA, Singapore’s ST Engineering, Brazil’s Extreme Group, the UK’s BlockAPT, Quai Acceleration, SVH Capital, Nexus Ignite, Outsource Accelerator and Q2 Global.

 

The programme aims to give participants first-hand insight into Jordan’s digital economy and technology sector, highlight local talent and explore opportunities for investment, partnerships and regional operations from the Kingdom, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

 

It runs until September 9 and includes visits and meetings in Amman and Aqaba before concluding in Petra.

 

Speaking at the opening forum in Amman, Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship Sami Smeirat said the programme was designed to allow participants to see Jordan’s technology sector first-hand rather than simply hear about it through presentations.

 

He said that the programme marks the beginning of efforts to open new avenues for cooperation, attract partnerships and bring new investments to the Kingdom.

 

He noted that the technology and digital economy sector enjoys Royal support and attention and is under the continued follow-up of HRH Crown Prince Hussein.

 

Smeirat highlighted human capital as one of Jordan’s key competitive advantages, noting that more than 45,000 students graduate from Jordanian universities each year, 22 per cent of whom specialise in information and communications technology (ICT).

 

Women account for up to 51 per cent of graduates in ICT-related fields, he said, adding that Jordan’s talent pool has strengthened the Kingdom’s position in outsourcing, information technology and entrepreneurship, while supporting advances in AI and innovation.

 

The minister said the government continues to improve the business environment, streamline procedures, support digital and technology investments and develop skills to enable companies to invest, grow and expand their operations from Jordan.

 

The delegation began its programme with a field tour of Amman’s Abdali area, including visits to Concentrix, Maysalward and Bigo, where participants learned about the companies’ operations and services delivered from Jordan and met members of their workforce.

 

The opening forum, attended by more than 100 representatives of Jordan’s technology sector, featured specialised sessions on human capital, IT outsourcing, global service delivery and the emerging semiconductor ecosystem. It also included an open dialogue on investors’ perspectives of Jordan, a presentation by TEDCO CEO Troy Stovall on building an innovation economy and a presentation by the Information and Communications Technology Association of Jordan (int@j) on incentives and sector programmes.

 

Jordan Source is a flagship initiative aimed at promoting the Kingdom as an investment destination for global technology companies in areas including global services, AI, software, semiconductors and the creative economy. It also connects international companies with Jordanian talent, businesses and investment opportunities.

 

Foreign direct investment in Jordan reached $2 billion in 2025, a 25 per cent increase from the previous year and the highest level since 2017, according to official figures.

 

Over the coming days, the delegation will visit King Hussein Business Park, which hosts around 300 startups, more than 30 international companies and over 10,000 jobs, and hold bilateral meetings with Jordanian companies and investors.

 

The delegation will then travel to Aqaba to visit the Aqaba Digital Hub and Aqaba University of Technology and explore the city’s digital infrastructure, international connectivity and investment opportunities before concluding its programme in Petra.
