Malaysian embassy highlights Jordanian market in Visit Malaysia campaign

AMMAN — The Malaysian embassy in Amman on Thursday hosted the Malaysia Tourism Networking Luncheon, organised in collaboration with the Jordan Tourism Board (JTB) to enhance bilateral cooperation, boost destination visibility and promote the Visit Malaysia 2026–2027 campaign.

JTB Director-General Ramzi Maaytah was the guest of honour in the event that was attended by key Jordanian travel trade leaders, tour operators, hospitality and media representatives.

The event served as a collaborative platform to strengthen industry linkages and boost two-way travel between the two nations, organisers said.

Ambassador of Malaysia to Jordan Mohamad Nasri Abdul Rahman emphasised the vital role of the Jordanian market for Malaysian tourism. In 2025, Malaysia received 8,957 visitors from Jordan, while 8,033 Malaysians travelled to Jordan, reflecting the existing two-way tourism movement between both countries.

“For Malaysia, Visit Malaysia is more than a tourism campaign. It is an opportunity to share our culture, natural beauty and the warmth of our people," said Ambassador Abdul Rahman.

“We offer a unique combination of safety, value-for-money, world-class shopping, and a naturally Muslim-friendly environment with accessible Halal dining and prayer facilities that resonate strongly with Jordanian families and leisure travellers,” the ambassador noted.

Active participation from key stakeholders, including the Jordan Inbound Tour Operators Association, the hotel sector and outbound travel agencies, underscored the event's importance.

The engagement is viewed as “essential” to converting interest into actual travel demand through tailored Malaysian travel packages and expanded promotion across the Jordanian market, Abdul Rahman said.

Visit Malaysia 2026 officially began on January 1, with events at 55 major entry points and locations across all 13 states and the government initially set an ambitious target of 47 million international tourist arrivals and around $80 billion in tourism receipts for the campaign.

The campaign underlines culture, food, ecotourism, shopping, islands, cities, festivals, MICE/business travel and Muslim-friendly tourism.

The campaign has subsequently been extended into 2027, with Malaysia maintaining the 47-million-visitor objective, the organisers said.
