AMMAN — The Eastern Military Zone on Wednesday foiled a drug smuggling attempt, intercepting balloons carrying narcotics and fitted with advanced electronic guidance systems.

 

A military source said Border Guard units, in coordination with security agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department, detected the balloons within the zone area of responsibility, downing them inside Jordanian territory.

 

The seized illicit cargo was referred to the competent authorities for necessary legal action, the statement said.
