AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah on Sunday chaired a National Security Council meeting, which covered current regional developments and escalations in the region.
During the meeting, attended by HRH Crown Prince Hussein, His Majesty was briefed on plans to respond to developments in a manner that preserves the security of Jordan, and ensures the safety of citizens, according to a Royal Court statement,
The meeting covered security assessments of the situation in the region, with the King being briefed on the readiness of various institutions and agencies to deal with developments.
His Majesty emphasised that the Kingdom will remain secure, and that protecting the safety of Jordanians is a priority, reaffirming that Jordan will not become a battleground for any conflict, the statement said.
The meeting was attended by members of the council, including Prime Minister Jafar Hassan, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Interior Minister Mazen Farraya, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Maj. Gen. Yousef Huneiti, General Intelligence Department Director Maj. Gen. Ahmad Husni, Public Security Directorate Director Maj. Gen. Obaidallah Maaytah, Royal Hashemite Court Chief Yousef Issawi, and Director of the Office of His Majesty Alaa Batayneh.
