JCD seizes nearly 6m Captagon pills, crystal meth at Jaber Border in H1 2026

The Jordan Times

AMMAN — The Jordan Customs Department (JCD) announced on Thursday that it foiled attempts to smuggle nearly 6 million Captagon pills and seized 2 kilogrammes of crystal meth during the first half of 2026 at the Jaber border crossing.

The JCD also said it confiscated 19,000 cartons of smuggled cigarettes, along with 11,000 bottles of vape liquid and electronic cigarettes, with legal action taken against those involved, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

The department said the seizures reflect ongoing efforts to protect society, safeguard the national economy and strengthen border security.

The operations coincided with a significant increase in cross-border traffic through the Jaber crossing, one of Jordan's busiest land border points.

In June alone, customs personnel processed more than 60,000 vehicles and buses of various nationalities while maintaining smooth traffic flow and carrying out inspection procedures efficiently, the statement said.

The JCD said that the results underscore the high level of preparedness and operational efficiency of its personnel, noting that close coordination with security agencies has enabled authorities to facilitate the movement of travellers and trade while maintaining effective border protection and national security.
