Cabinet approves satellite investment incentives, circular economy roadmap

AMMAN — The Cabinet approved financial incentives for qualified satellite communication infrastructure investments exceeding $10 million.

The incentive regulations were approved during a session, chaired by Prime Minister Jafar Hassan.

To benefit from incentives, eligible projects must establish at least six gateway earth stations and points of presence across the Kingdom, according to a Prime Ministry statement.

“The incentives aim to position Jordan as a regional hub for digital infrastructure and data traffic without altering existing licensees’ regulatory rights,” the statement said.

The satellite networks will complement terrestrial and submarine cables to bolster telecommunications resilience.

The Cabinet also adopted the National Circular Economy Roadmap, establishing a national guide through 2050 to optimise resource usage and expand recycling.

Developed by the Ministry of Environment, the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply, and the Royal Scientific Society, the roadmap aligns with the Economic Modernisation Vision, according to the statement.

The strategy targets five priority domains, including circular material supply, resource efficiency, circular water approaches, efficient energy systems, and waste to resource conversion.

It applies these models across agriculture, mining, food processing, construction, and tourism, while targeting a 50 per cent reduction in food waste by 2030.
