AMMAN — The Eastern Military Region thwarted on Thursday a smuggling attempt of a large quantity of narcotics using directed balloons across its border front.

Border Guard forces tracked the balloons within their area of responsibility, intercepted them, and brought them down inside the Kingdom, according to a Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF) statement.

The forces seized the loaded narcotics in coordination with other security agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department and referred the seized items to the relevant authorities to take necessary legal action.

JAF affirmed that it will act decisively against any attempt targeting the Kingdom’s security and borders, emphasising that Border Guard units remain committed to confronting infiltration and smuggling attempts to protect national security and stability.
