AMMAN — A military source at the General Command of the Jordanian Armed Forces–Arab Army (JAF) has refuted as “baseless” foreign media reports claiming that Israel will participate in this year’s Special Operations Forces Exhibition (SOFEX Jordan), scheduled to be held in Aqaba at the end of October.

Jordan’s public service broadcaster Al Mamlaka quoted the unnamed source as saying that the allegations were baseless and resurfaced ahead of each edition of the exhibition in an attempt to create confusion and damage Jordan’s reputation.

The source said 36 countries are scheduled to participate in this year’s exhibition, including Jordan, Germany, France, Egypt, Turkey, the United States, the United Kingdom, China, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Slovakia, Norway, Switzerland, Indonesia, Australia, South Korea, Bulgaria, the United Arab Emirates, Italy, Saudi Arabia, Poland, Estonia, Spain, Canada, Argentina, Belgium, the Netherlands, Romania, South Africa, the Philippines, Cyprus, Thailand, Lebanon, Russia, New Zealand and Pakistan.

Jordan has hosted SOFEX since 1996. Held every two years, the international exhibition specialises in special operations equipment and national security, showcasing the latest defence systems, equipment and technologies.

The event brings together defence industry companies from around the world to showcase their latest products and technological solutions and explore opportunities for cooperation in special operations and national security.
