AMMAN — Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi on Wednesday received Deputy Secretary General for Peace, Security and Defence at the European External Action Service (EEAS) Charles Fries to discuss strengthening the strategic partnership between Jordan and the EU.

During the meeting, Safadi emphasised the depth of the Jordan-EU partnership and the mutual commitment to expanding cooperation across various sectors, particularly in security and defence. Both sides underscored the importance of building upon the outcomes of the Jordan-EU Summit hosted in Amman on January 8, according to a Foreign Ministry statement.

The discussions covered regional developments, focusing on the situation in Gaza and the occupied West Bank, alongside ongoing efforts to achieve regional security and stability.

Earlier on Wednesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates hosted the first-ever Jordan-EU Security and Defence Dialogue. The session was co-chaired by the Ministry's Secretary-General, Ambassador Daifallah Fayez, and Fries.

The dialogue was held within the framework of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the Kingdom and the EU, serving as a follow-up to the milestones established during the inaugural Jordan-EU Summit.
