AMMAN — The national exports recorded strong growth over the past year, with exports rising by more than 9 per cent in 2025 compared with 2024 and surpassing a total value of $13 billion, Minister of Industry, Trade, and Supply Yarub Qudah said on Tuesday.

In remarks to Al Mamlaka, Qudah said that the figures reflect a “significant progress in Jordanian industry, particularly in quality and competitiveness,” noting that improvements extend beyond pricing to include advanced production standards and product quality.

He stressed the importance of the local market as a foundation for industrial growth, saying that strong local performance enhances the ability of Jordanian products to compete and expand in international markets.

Qudah added that trade exhibitions held in the Kingdom, including Jordanian food exhibitions, play a key role in introducing consumers to national products and highlighting improvements achieved in recent years.

He said that Jordanian industry has become a central pillar of the national economy rather than a secondary sector, citing its role in creating sustainable employment opportunities for Jordanians.

On food security, the minister said Jordan’s reserves of essential commodities currently range between two and four months, describing the levels as reassuring. He noted that the ministry maintains monitoring systems for both prices and strategic reserves to ensure market stability.

He added that stock levels for most basic food items exceed the internationally recognised safety threshold of two months, while strategic wheat reserves are sufficient for nearly nine months, given wheat’s importance as a key commodity.

He noted that around 65 per cent of essential food commodities have not experienced price increases, while prices for approximately 20 per cent declined ahead of the month of Ramadan.
