Prime minister, Omani Shura Council chairman discuss cooperation

AMMAN — Prime Minister Jafar Hassan on Monday discussed with Chairman of Oman's Shura Council Sheikh Khalid bin Hilal Al Maawali and his accompanying delegation ways to enhance cooperation in various fields.
 
During the meeting at the Prime Ministry, the two sides reiterated the deep-rooted and historic ties between the two countries and their leaderships, which provide a solid foundation for bilateral relations.
 
They stressed their shared commitment to strengthening parliamentary cooperation and exchanging legislative and oversight expertise, according to a Prime Ministry statement.
 
Hassan and Al Maawali stressed the importance of activating parliamentary friendship committees between the two countries to enhance coordination and cooperation through Arab, Islamic and international parliamentary unions and forums.
 
They also stressed the importance of activating the Jordanian-Omani Higher Joint Committee to advance cooperation in various fields and encourage the private sectors in both countries to benefit from available investment opportunities, particularly in major projects.
 
The two sides also highlighted the importance of continuing diplomatic efforts to promote security and stability, end the escalation in the region, support the Palestinian people and help them remain on their land as a basis for resolving the Palestinian issue.
 
The meeting was attended by Minister of Political and Parliamentary Affairs Abdul Monem Odat, Minister of State for Prime Ministry Affairs Abdullatif Najdawi, Chairman of the Jordanian-Omani Parliamentary Brotherhood Committee Yousef Rawadiya, Oman’s ambassador to Jordan and members of the Omani Shura Council.
