AMMAN — Prime Minister Jafar Hassan on Monday directed relevant ministries and competent authorities to immediately deploy all available resources to address damage caused by recent weather conditions, while maintaining a state of emergency to respond to any developments expected in the coming period.

Hassan also instructed several ministers to carry out field visits to southern governorates to assess the impact of heavy rainfall on infrastructure and to begin rehabilitation works without delay, according to a Prime Ministry statement.

The prime minister stressed the importance of identifying damage to infrastructure and public facilities in affected areas and securing the necessary funding for repairs as quickly as possible from emergency allocations. He called for immediate measures to ensure public safety and to maintain the operation of damaged facilities, particularly transport services.

Hassan underscored the need for continued coordination among all ministries and relevant agencies, as well as the full readiness of personnel, equipment and machinery to deal with prevailing weather conditions.

He noted that the strong rainy season has contributed to an increase in national water reserves, raising expectations for a favourable agricultural and water season. At the same time, he emphasised the importance of ongoing monitoring of dams and water storage facilities and preparedness to deal with any unusual conditions that may result from weather systems and regional and global climate change.

The prime minister also called for the continuation of public awareness campaigns and urged citizens to adhere to warnings issued by relevant authorities, particularly residents of areas vulnerable to flash floods, to ensure their safety and prevent damage and accidents.
