AMMAN — The Kingdom will remain under the influence of a cold and moist air mass associated with a low-pressure system on Sunday, bringing cold, cloudy and rainy conditions to the northern and central regions, as well as parts of the eastern and southern areas, including Aqaba, according to the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD).

JMD said that rainfall is expected to be heavy at times during the morning hours in the northern and central regions of the Kingdom, and in parts of the south-western regions, with thunderstorms possible, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Westerly winds will be active, with strong gusts occasionally reaching 50–60 km/h, raising dust particularly in Badia region. Rainfall intensity is expected to gradually ease during the evening and night.

On Monday, the Kingdom will be affected by another low-pressure system centred over Cyprus. The weather will remain cold and cloudy, with renewed rainfall in the northern and central regions and parts of the south-western and eastern areas.

Heavy rain is forecast at times in the north and centre, possibly accompanied by thunder. Westerly winds will be active, with gusts reaching 60–70 km/h, causing dusty conditions in Badia region, before rainfall weakens overnight.

A slight rise in temperatures is expected on Tuesday, though cold conditions will persist in most areas, while the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea and Aqaba will see milder weather. Light rain showers may occur early in the morning in the north and centre.

Temperatures on Sunday are expected to range between 10°C and 5°C in Amman, and 20°C and 11°C in Aqaba.

The Public Security Directorate (PSD) warned of the expected weather conditions, cautioning against the risk of flash floods, according to Petra.

PSD urged citizens to avoid low-lying areas and valleys, drive carefully to prevent skidding, secure loose objects, and ensure the safe use of heating appliances.

The directorate said that its teams are fully prepared to respond to emergencies and called on the public to follow weather updates and safety instructions.
