Jordan, Arab, Muslim countries condemn Israel’s ceasefire violations in Gaza

The Jordan Times

AMMAN – The Foreign ministers of Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Pakistan, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Egypt has condemned Israel’s repeated violations of the ceasefire in Gaza, which resulted in more than 1,000 Palestinians killed or wounded.

In a joint statement on Sunday, the ministers warned that the continued breaches constitute a “dangerous escalation that risks inflaming tensions and undermining ongoing efforts to stabilise the ceasefire.”

The statement came as regional and international actors seek to advance the second phase of a peace plan put forward by US President Donald Trump, alongside the implementation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2803.

The UN Security Council adopted resolution 2803 in November, endorsing the US-backed ‘Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict’, also known as President Trump’s 20-point plan for Gaza.

The resolution welcomes the establishment of the Trump plan’s proposed Board of Peace and authorises the Board and UN member states to establish a temporary International Stabilisation Force in Gaza.

The foreign ministers said the repeated violations pose a direct threat to the political process and could derail efforts to create conditions conducive to a more stable phase in Gaza, both in security and humanitarian terms.

They stressed the need for full adherence to commitments necessary to ensure the success of the plan’s second phase and called on all parties to assume their responsibilities during “this critical period.”

The statement urged restraint and warned against any actions that could undermine current diplomatic efforts, emphasising the importance of maintaining the ceasefire and creating conditions for early recovery and reconstruction.

The ministers also reaffirmed their commitment to a just, comprehensive, and lasting peace, grounded in the Palestinian people’s “inalienable right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, in line with international law, relevant UN Security Council resolutions, and the Arab Peace Initiative.”
