A wan was injured on Friday night following an explosion in the Mazzeh area of Damascus, caused by rockets launched from a mobile platform, according to the state news agency SANA, citing a military source, without specifying who was responsible.

SANA reported a “loud explosion in the Mazzeh area” that resulted in “a woman being wounded,” based on initial information.

A military source told SANA that “the treacherous attack… was carried out using rockets fired from a mobile platform,” adding that “the parties behind the targeting and the means used remain unknown for now.”

Syrian authorities confirmed that two Katyusha rockets struck residential areas, injuring several civilians and causing material damage, according to state media.

SANA, citing the Ministry of Defense, said the rockets were fired from the outskirts of the city toward Mazzeh and surrounding neighborhoods. The ministry confirmed that the attack resulted in civilian injuries and property damage.

According to state television, the explosion struck a home in Mazzeh 86.

Security forces are reportedly “investigating the circumstances of the incident and pursuing those responsible,” according to a security source.

Television footage showed a hole in the wall of one room in the house, with its contents scattered.

The sound of the explosion was heard in several districts of Damascus, according to Agence France-Presse (AFP) correspondents.

Dr. Samih Saqr, 37, who lives in the neighborhood, told AFP, “I heard a loud explosion preceded by a sound like a falling rocket.” He added that security forces and ambulances rushed to the targeted location.
