AMMAN — The Foreign Ministry on Saturday extended congratulations to the United Nations on the occasion of its 80th anniversary, underscoring Jordan’s commitment to the organisation’s principles and goals.

Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Fouad Majali praised the UN’s pivotal role over eight decades in promoting global peace, security, and development, and in upholding human rights across the world, according to a ministry statement.

Majali reaffirmed Jordan’s belief in the UN Charter as a cornerstone of international cooperation, stressing that collective action and multilateralism remain essential to addressing today’s complex regional and global challenges.

"The United Nations continues to stand as a beacon of hope for nations and peoples striving for a more just and peaceful world," Majali said, citing the organisation’s vital contributions to humanitarian aid, conflict resolution, climate action, and sustainable development.

He also noted that 2025 marks the 70th anniversary of Jordan’s membership in the UN, a milestone reflecting the Kingdom’s deep-rooted partnership with the organisation, particularly in supporting refugees and international peacekeeping efforts.

Reiterating Jordan’s support for the UN’s mission, Majali expressed the Kingdom’s aspiration to further strengthen cooperation with the UN and its specialised agencies in pursuit of a world founded on security, stability, and prosperity for all.
