Electronic lottery conducted for 2025 National Service intake

The Jordan Times

AMMAN — The Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship on Monday carried out an electronic lottery to select 6,000 young people born in 2007 for next year’s national service programme, with the intake divided into three batches of 2,000 conscripts each.

Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship Samer Samirat said the draw, conducted by a specialised technical committee, employed a “precise statistical algorithm” and underwent extensive information-security checks to ensure fair distribution among governorates and full protection of conscripts’ data.

Those selected will be notified through the national service platform khidmetalam.gov.jo, the Sanad application, and SMS messages. Samirat urged all youth born in 2007 to review the platform for instructions and forthcoming schedules.

He stressed that all data remains securely stored in both electronic and hard-copy formats, and will be transferred to the Jordan Armed Forces–Arab Army (JAF) once the technical committee — comprising representatives from the ministry, the JAF, and the Civil Status and Passports Department — signs the official record.

Minister of Government Communication and Government Spokesperson Mohammad Momani said the electronic lottery reflects HRH Crown Prince Hussein’s directives to ensure a transparent, exception-free selection process using reliable digital systems.

Momani noted that the National Service and Reserve Service Law has completed all constitutional procedures, been published in the Official Gazette, and now has its implementing regulations in place. The programme, he added, aims to strengthen national identity and discipline while preparing more young people capable of safeguarding national achievements and contributing to development.

Regarding exemptions, Momani said that no eligible individual is excluded, with exceptions limited to only children and those deemed medically unfit by specialised committees.

Brig. Gen. Ziad Khawaldeh, head of the National Service and Reserve Service Directorate at the JAF, briefed attendees on the forthcoming recruitment and enrolment phases, including dates and procedures for each batch. Medical examinations for the first group will take place from 17 to 23 December 2025 at four medical centres.

Khawaldeh said training centres are equipped with medical units, 24-hour surveillance systems, and controlled communication channels enabling conscripts to contact their families when necessary. Personal mobile phones will not be permitted inside the camps.

He added that conscripts will receive a treatment card from the Royal Medical Services covering their primary beneficiary throughout the service period. Conscripts may leave the training centre after the first four weeks and subsequently will be permitted 48-hour leave at the end of each week, returning on Saturday evening.

Officials said the deferment platform will open 24 hours after the lottery results are announced for those eligible to postpone service, including students in annual-system programmes such as medicine and pharmacy, regular school students, and Jordanian residents abroad. Eligible individuals must join the programme once their reason for deferment ends.

The electronic lottery and signing of the official record were attended by the ministers of digital economy and entrepreneurship, interior, and government communication, along with the head of the National Cybersecurity Centre.
