Jordan’s campaign delivers over 119,000 tonnes of aid to Gaza — JHCO

The Jordan Times

AMMAN — The Jordan Hashemite Charity Organisation (JHCO) said on Monday that Jordan’s humanitarian campaign for Gaza has delivered over 119,000 metric tonnes of aid to the besieged enclave since the outbreak of the war, despite severe restrictions on access.

As of September 10, JHCO reported that 8,480 aid trucks carrying humanitarian cargo had entered Gaza through land convoys, while the Royal Jordanian Air Force, in cooperation with partner countries, carried out 400 joint airdrops and 164 Jordanian-only drops, JHCO said in remarks to The Jordan Times.

In addition to truck and air deliveries, the organisation noted that it has launched several community-level initiatives in Gaza. Mobile bakeries, capable of producing up to 40,000 loaves of bread daily, have been deployed to address food shortages, at times reaching a peak of 390,000 loaves distributed in a single week. Additionally, 21.1 million litres of water and more than 1.2 million prepared meals were distributed to families across Gaza’s governorates.

According to JHCO, these efforts have helped reduce reliance on airdrops, eased food insecurity, and provided families with stability. “These efforts have directly benefited hundreds of thousands of Gazans under extreme conditions”.

The organisation explained that the type of aid delivered is determined through a multi-layered assessment process. "Priority is given to life-saving supplies such as food staples, water, flour, and emergency medical equipment, JHCO said adding that requests from hospitals, municipalities, and UN coordination clusters also guide aid consignments.

JHCO also noted that deliveries are adjusted weekly, depending on access, security conditions, and emerging needs. To guarantee aid reaches those most in need, the organisation stressed that it relies on real-time reporting from field partners and post-delivery verification to track distribution and avoid duplication.

The organisation also confirmed that Jordan temporarily suspended its air-drops in early September due to operational and safety restrictions imposed by Israel. “We will resume immediately if safe air corridors are guaranteed by all parties, ensuring no risk to civilians or flight crews,” JHCO said.

When conditions allow, aid is moved through two main channels, Aid convoys from Jordan cross into Gaza mainly via the Zekeem crossing when “windows of passage” are permitted, JHCO said, adding that Airdrops, carried out with the Royal Jordanian Air Force and partner nations, rely on precision mapping of drop zones to ensure aid reaches needed communities.

“Jordan’s humanitarian role rests on speed, neutrality, and persistence,” JHCO stressed. “We will continue until every possible channel to Gaza’s civilians is fully secured.”
