AMMAN — Prime Minister Jafar Hassan on Tuesday held talks with his Palestinian counterpart Mohammad Mustafa, with both sides reaffirming the deep ties between Jordan and Palestine and the continued support these relations receive from His Majesty King Abdullah.
Hassan reaffirmed Jordan’s firm stance on the Palestinian cause, emphasising the Kingdom’s continued support for the Palestinians’ efforts to end the occupation, realise their legitimate rights, and establish an independent state on their national soil, according to a Prime Ministry statement.
He noted that Palestine holds a central place for Jordanians, particularly for His Majesty, whose sustained diplomatic efforts contributed to a growing number of international recognitions of the State of Palestine.
The meeting stressed the need to build on the momentum of recent international recognitions and on the UN Security Council resolution based on the plan presented by US President Donald Trump.
The two sides also underlined the importance of working with Washington to consolidate the ceasefire in Gaza and enable the international stabilisation force to carry out its mandate, paving the way for a political process grounded in the two-state solution.
Hassan said that Jordan continues to send humanitarian and medical assistance to Gaza through field hospitals, the ‘Restoring Hope Initiative’, and the treatment of wounded children and cancer patients.
He reiterated Jordan’s support for the Palestinian National Authority’s reform efforts and stressed that strengthening Palestinian resilience and helping them remain on their land remain top Jordanian priorities.
He also condemned Israeli threats, suppression and settler violence against Palestinians, reaffirming Jordan’s commitment to defending Jerusalem’s Islamic and Christian holy sites under the Hashemite custodianship.
He said Jordan would continue mobilising international pressure to halt Israeli violations and attempts to alter the city’s status quo.
The talks also addressed ways to boost economic cooperation, especially in trade, industry, agriculture and energy.
The two sides agreed to form joint ministerial committees, organise business forums, enhance the role of the Jordanian-Palestinian Agricultural Marketing Company, ease passenger and cargo movement across border crossings, and expand cooperation in information technology, digital transformation and e-commerce legislation.
Mustafa thanked Jordan for its consistent positions, under His Majesty’s leadership, in support of the Palestinian cause.
He briefed on the developments in the Palestinian territories, efforts to uphold the ceasefire in Gaza, halt ongoing violations in the West Bank, and address the economic, social and security restrictions imposed by Israel.
Attending the meeting were Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Yarub Qudah, Minister of State for Economic Affairs Muhannad Shehadeh and Minister of State for Prime Ministry Affairs Abdul Latif Najdawi.
The Palestinian delegation included Minister of National Economy Mohammad Amoor.
