AMMAN – Gaza Municipality warned Friday that the vast majority of tents sheltering displaced residents have deteriorated beyond use, as humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip continue to worsen.
Municipality ‘S spokesperson Husni Mhanna said that 93 per cent of tents housing displaced families are now “completely worn out,” leaving thousands exposed to harsh living conditions. He described the humanitarian situation across the enclave as “extremely difficult.”
Speaking to Al Mamlaka, Mhanna said the municipality urgently needs a fleet of heavy and specialized machinery to remove an estimated 25 million tons of rubble accumulated across Gaza City.
He also said that the municipality has been left with only one functioning bulldozer following the war, while more than 134 municipal vehicles and machines were destroyed.
These vehicles, he said, had previously played a critical role in providing essential public services.
