'Israeli' police announced Wednesday the arrest of an elderly woman suspected of plotting to assassinate Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu using an improvised explosive device.
The arrest, carried out two weeks ago in coordination with the Shin Bet, involved a resident of central 'Israel' who allegedly conspired with others to target the prime minister, according to 'Israeli' public broadcaster KAN.
Preliminary investigations suggest the woman intended to carry out the attack using an explosive device.
She has since been released but remains under a court-imposed ban from entering government institutions or approaching Prime Minister Netanyahu. Authorities say an indictment is expected on Thursday.
She will reportedly be charged with conspiring to commit a crime and planning a terrorist act. Further details about her identity or possible accomplices remain undisclosed, as the investigation is ongoing.
