Brigadier General Hatim Al-Zoubi, Deputy Head of Jordan’s National Center for Security and Crisis Management, confirmed that the center has activated contingency plans that include preparing shelters capable of accommodating tens of thousands of citizens.
These shelters will be fully equipped with food, medicine, and other essentials to ensure public safety and continuity of vital services under any circumstance.
Speaking amid heightened regional tensions, Al-Zoubi said the center has formed a monitoring task force that has been operating since Thursday to proactively address various potential scenarios.
He emphasized the importance of public awareness and urged citizens to refrain from spreading misinformation or panic, as national security relies heavily on public cooperation.
The center continues to monitor key sectors including security, energy, food supply, and healthcare, ensuring hospitals remain stable and prepared for emergencies. Al-Zoubi urged citizens to follow official guidelines, avoid rooftops, and refrain from approaching unidentified objects. He stressed the need to take shelter immediately upon hearing sirens, preferably indoors or in lower floors if no shelter is available.
He also clarified that sirens are used only when absolutely necessary and that there is currently no need to suspend schools or universities. Al-Zoubi warned against sharing fake videos or rumors, affirming the center’s commitment to transparency and timely updates.
The official called for calm, cooperation, and public discipline as the country navigates this period of heightened alert.
