US troops began arriving overnight in ‘Israel’ as part of a unit that will help oversee the Gaza ceasefire deal, according to an ABC News report.
The force will be composed of 200 troops and will arrive over the weekend, coming in from the United States and other bases across the Middle East, according to two officials cited by ABC News.
The report adds that the personnel were intended to help create a joint control center to coordinate and integrate other security forces in Gaza.
Egyptian, Qatari, Turkish and probably Emirati military officials will be part of the team, likely based out of Egypt.
The officials said there are no plans for the US troops to go into the Gaza Strip.
