The Jordan Times

AMMAN — Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister Ayman Safadi and Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal Bin Farhan Al Saud on Monday, held talks during which they affirmed Jordan and Saudi Arabia’s absolute solidarity in the face of Iranian aggressions against both countries and brotherly Arab states.

The two ministers renewed their condemnation of these attacks, describing them as a violation of international law and the principles of good neighbourliness, as well as an unjustified assault on state sovereignty, according to a Foreign Ministry statement.

They underlined their solidarity regarding all measures taken by both kingdoms and Arab nations to counter these aggressions, within the framework of the right to self-defence under Article 51 of the UN Charter.

Safadi and Prince Faisal discussed prospects for de-escalating the dangerous regional tensions on a basis that ensures security, stability, and respect for sovereignty, ensuring that Iranian aggressions are not repeated.

During their meeting at the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Riyadh, the ministers emphasised the continued development of bilateral cooperation across various fields.

This coordination aims to strengthen the “deep-rooted” strategic and brotherly ties between the two kingdoms, in implementation of the directives of their respective leaderships.

The discussions also covered the situation in the West Bank and Gaza. Both sides stressed the necessity of stabilising Gaza and removing all obstacles hindering the entry of humanitarian aid.

Safadi and Prince Faisal urged concert regional and international efforts to halt illegal Israeli measures that fuel escalation and undermine the two-state solution and prospects for a just and comprehensive peace.

They specifically highlighted the construction and expansion of settlements, land confiscation, violations of freedom of worship, and breaches of the historical and legal status quo of Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.

Regarding Lebanon, the two ministers called for an end to Israeli aggression and adherence to the ceasefire agreement reached on 27 November 2024.

They expressed support for the Lebanese government's efforts to exert sovereignty over its entire territory, activate state institutions, and ensure that weapons remain exclusively in the hands of the state.

Furthermore, the two officials underscored their support for the Syrian government’s reconstruction efforts based on foundations that guarantee Syria’s security, stability, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the rights of all its citizens. They renewed their condemnation of Israeli attacks on Syrian territory and the occupation of further Syrian land.

The talks also highlighted the importance of the Jordanian-Syrian-American roadmap to resolve the crisis in Suweida and stabilise southern Syria, which was announced on 16 September 2025.

Safadi and Prince Faisal agreed to maintain continuous communication and coordination in efforts to restore regional security and stability.

Also on Monday, Safadi met with the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, to discuss the impact of the recent dangerous escalation in the region.

During the meeting, the two sides renewed Jordan and Qatar’s condemnation of Iranian attacks on their countries and other Arab states, according to another Foreign Ministry statement.

They also affirmed full solidarity in confronting these attacks, describing them as violations of international law, the principles of regional cooperation and mutual respect, and the sovereignty of states.

The two top diplomats also discussed prospects for diplomacy and dialogue to end the escalation, based on principles that safeguard regional security and stability and uphold respect for international law and state sovereignty.

They reiterated their continued joint efforts to maintain stability in Gaza and ensure the immediate and sufficient delivery of humanitarian aid to the Strip.

Both sides also warned that Israel’s ongoing illegal measures undermine the prospects for a just and comprehensive peace, emphasising that a two-state solution, ending the occupation and establishing an independent, sovereign Palestinian state on its national territory, is the sole path to peace.

Safadi and Sheikh Mohammed highlighted the strength of the brotherly and strategic ties between the two countries and their joint commitment to meeting regional challenges.

They also discussed ways to strengthen cooperation across various fields, in line with the directives of the leaderships of both countries, and advancing their common interests and supporting regional security and stability.
