AMMAN — Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ayman Safadi condemned on Wednesday the Israeli aggression against Qatar, reaffirming Amman’s “full” solidarity with Doha and the inseparability of the two countries’ security.
Speaking at a joint press conference with Croatian Foreign Minister Gordan Grlić Radman in Amman, Safadi said the Israeli attack on Qatar was a “blatant violation of international law and a reflection of the Netanyahu government’s “rogue” approach in the region.”
Safadi urged the international community to take action to curb Israel’s aggressive behaviour in the region, saying that he had been tasked by His Majesty King Abdullah to engage with counterparts across the region and beyond to forge a unified stance against Israeli actions.
“We must formulate a collective position that deters this aggression and presses for an effective international response that clearly states this behaviour is unacceptable, especially the attack on Qatar,” he said.
He also condemned Israel’s ongoing military campaign in Gaza and its “destructive” impact on the prospects in the region.
“We will continue working to rally international and regional support to end this catastrophe.”
Safadi said that Israel’s actions demonstrate a disregard for international law, adding it is time to put an end to its aggression. He cited Israeli attacks in Syria and its expansionist policies as threats to regional stability.
“When Israel kills thousands of Palestinians who were seeking aid, when it targets journalists and humanitarian workers, these are grave violations that the world must respond to decisively.”
Safadi reiterated Jordan’s support for the two-state solution as the only viable path to a just and lasting peace, thanking Croatia for its continued backing of this position.
