AMMAN — Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi on Friday evening received US Special Envoy to Syria Thomas Barrack, over talks on the latest developments in Syria and ongoing coordination between the two countries.
The discussions centred on continued cooperation to support the Syrian government in efforts to safeguard the country's security, sovereignty, unity and stability, while protecting the rights and safety of all Syrians, according to a Foreign Ministry statement.
Developments in Aleppo featured prominently, as Safadi and Barrack reaffirmed Jordanian and US support for initiatives to consolidate the ceasefire, ensure the peaceful withdrawal of the Syrian Democratic Forces from the city, and guarantee the protection of civilians.
Both sides stressed the need for the immediate implementation of the 10 March 2025 agreement previously endorsed by the Syrian government and the Syrian Democratic Forces.
The meeting also addressed the situation in Sweida, with the two officials underscoring the importance of continuing joint efforts to implement the roadmap approved on 16 September 2025, aimed at ending the crisis in the governorate.
