AMMAN — Airport International Group (AIG), the Jordanian company operating Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA), maintained efficient and reliable operations throughout the first half of 2026, demonstrating resilience amid continued regional challenges affecting the aviation sector.

 

During the first six months of the year, QAIA welcomed 3,744,901 passengers, representing a 15 per cent decrease compared to the same period in 2025.

 

The airport also handled 32,311 aircraft movements, down 11.1 per cent year on year, and processed 30,618 tonnes of cargo, reflecting a 19.9 per cent decrease, according to a statement by AIG.

 

In June alone, QAIA served 749,153 passengers, while aircraft movements reached 6,115 and cargo volumes totalled 6,546 tonnes.

 

Compared to June 2025, passenger traffic increased by 4.4 per cent, aircraft movements rose by 4.9 per cent and cargo volumes grew by 35.9 per cent.

 

Nevertheless, traffic volumes are expected to remain subject to volatility in the near term amid continued regional developments.

 

These figures reflect the continued impact of regional developments on the aviation sector while underscoring QAIA's ability to maintain operational continuity in a challenging operating environment.

 

Chief Executive Officer of AIG, Nicolas Deviller, said, "Throughout the first half of 2026, our priority remained ensuring efficient and reliable operations while supporting Jordan's connectivity despite a challenging regional environment."

 

He added "We remain focused on working closely with our partners to strengthen QAIA's role as Jordan's gateway for tourism, business and economic growth while continuing to deliver the high standards of service our passengers and partners expect."
