The Jordan Times

AMMAN — Jordan’s exports to European Union countries rose by 11.4 per cent during the first eight months of this year, reaching JD411 million, as the Kingdom prepares to host a major Jordan-EU Investment Conference aimed at attracting European investment and strengthening economic ties.

The conference, scheduled for November 19, is expected to showcase investment opportunities worth nearly $15 billion across a range of key economic sectors.

According to figures released by the Department of Statistics (DoS), Jordan’s exports to the EU increased from JD369 million during the first eight months of 2025 to JD411 million during the same period this year, marking a rise of JD42 million.

Exports to the Netherlands recorded particularly strong growth, climbing by 46.5 per cent to JD104 million, compared with JD71 million during the corresponding period last year.

Meanwhile, Jordan’s imports from EU countries fell by 7 per cent to JD1.942 billion, down from JD2.088 billion during the first eight months of 2025.

Imports from Germany also declined, dropping by 12 per cent to JD397 million, compared with JD451 million during the same period last year, according to DoS.

The combined increase in exports and decline in imports helped narrow Jordan’s trade deficit with the EU by 10.9 per cent, bringing it down to JD1.531 billion, compared with JD1.719 billion during the corresponding period last year. The deficit therefore decreased by JD188 million.

Jordan-EU Investment Conference

The trade figures come ahead of the Jordan-EU Investment Conference, scheduled to take place in the Dead Sea region on November 19 under the patronage of His Majesty King Abdullah.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen is expected to attend, alongside senior officials and representatives of European companies, financial institutions and investment organisations.

Jordan plans to present a portfolio of investment opportunities valued at nearly $15 billion, equivalent to approximately €13 billion. The opportunities span 15 sectors and subsectors, including energy, mining, transport, logistics, tourism, water, industry and the digital economy.

The conference aims to translate the strategic and comprehensive partnership between Jordan and the EU into concrete investment projects by connecting European investors with opportunities in the Kingdom and exploring financing mechanisms and potential cooperation with Jordan's private sector.

As part of the preparations, the government has scheduled closed-door dialogue sessions with private-sector representatives for November 18, a day before the official conference, according to Al Mamlaka.

The sessions are intended to give investors and companies an opportunity to discuss potential projects, explore investment opportunities and establish direct business partnerships.
