AMMAN — The total value of aid delivered to Gaza through the “For Our People in Gaza” campaign has reached around $335 million, Secretary General of the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organisation (JHCO) Hussein Shibli said.

Speaking during the Government Communication Forum, Shibli emphasised that the campaign reflects Jordan’s unwavering commitment to supporting the Palestinian people and aligns with His Majesty King Abdullah’s vision of extending aid to those in need, both within the Kingdom and beyond.

Detailing the wide-ranging humanitarian assistance provided, Shibli said that nearly 883,000 hot meals, over 23,500 bundles of bread, and more than 61,000 cubic metres of water have been distributed in Gaza. In addition, Jordanian field hospitals have performed more than 36,000 surgeries and treated nearly 490,000 patients since the campaign began.

The campaign, he noted, was sustained by a diverse network of contributors, including donations from the Jordanian public, support from the private sector, civil society organisations, local charities, and partnerships with 114 international and UN-affiliated agencies.

Ministry of Government Communications Secretary General Zaid Nawaisa reiterated Jordan’s steadfast commitment to providing continued assistance to Gaza. He stressed that JHCO’s efforts are part of a broader national mission, and that Jordan will continue to utilise all available avenues to deliver humanitarian aid.

Nawaisa also dismissed any doubts or criticism regarding Jordan’s support efforts, highlighting the JHCO’s long-standing involvement in providing aid to Palestinians in the West Bank, Jerusalem, and Gaza. By September 2023, the organisation had delivered more than $212 million worth of medical, humanitarian, food, educational, and financial assistance, he added.

Within Jordan, the JHCO also implements a range of social support initiatives for vulnerable families, including psychological assistance, vocational training, and orphan sponsorship programmes. Internationally, the organisation has extended humanitarian relief to 42 countries affected by conflict, natural disasters, and food insecurity.
